About

John McAdam

John McAdam is the Managing Partner of Pioneer Business Ventures, where he offers “hands-on” personal and private business advisory to business owners with ten or more employees looking to double their revenues.

Prior to founding Pioneer Business Ventures, John owned half a dozen successful businesses and worked as a hired CEO for a company where he tripled revenues. The result of all that knowledge culminated in his popular book The One-Hour Business Plan (Wiley). He has been interviewed for his expertise in such notable publications as:

The Wall Street Journal
• Inc. Magazine
• Success Magazine
• Crain’s New York Business
• Business News Daily
• Wharton Alumni Magazine
• Small Business Weekly

John grew up in a rough part of Philadelphia, in a 1500 square foot house where he lived with his family of 5. “I knew that while there was nothing shameful about being poor, it was damn inconvenient. I believed that education was the key.”

John received his MBA in Marketing, Strategic Planning, and Entrepreneurial Studies from The Wharton School. A firm believer in giving back, John has been on a variety of profit and non-profit boards. He has contributed his skills to a variety of institutions supporting entrepreneurs including:

• Widener University Small Business Development Center – helping more than 100 small businesses survive and thrive during COVID-19

• Pennsylvania State Network of Small Business Development Centers – presentations on generating internal cash flow for small businesses for all PA State business consultants

• Board member at the Entrepreneurship Institute

• Wharton Small Business Development Center – taught strategic business planning

When he is not busy helping owners build their businesses, John enjoys volunteering for nonprofit organizations, spending time with family and friends, fine food and wine, and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers.
